The Good and the Bad

Alain Vigneault went from humorous podium addresses to solemn deliveries, where little was revealed by a head coach from whom much was expected during his seven-year reign with the Vancouver Canucks.

There was much to celebrate in back-to-back Presidents trophies as the regular season elite, a Jack Adams Award for his work behind the bench, surpassing Marc Crawford for most franchise victories and coming within a win of a Stanley Cup triumph.

As we bid adieu to Alain, heres a look back at a coach who was seldom warm and fuzzy but wasnt a tyrant even though he had his differences with Willie Mitchell, Shane OBrien, Cody Hodgson and Keith Ballard.

I dont play the Im-the-boss card, Vigneault said when asked about his relationships with his players. The guys know all the work I do to get us ready and because theyre smart, they know Ive earned the respect here. Im doing the job so they can be successful. Players see that. If I see theyre putting in an honest effort, Ill be in their corner.

That meant turning the room over to a leadership core that set its own accountability agenda which also created a comfort zone in exchange for a system buy-in. And in their run to the Cup final, the Canucks had the top-ranked offence and power play and second-ranked defence and third-ranked penalty kill.

Vigneault got the most out of a defence-first philosophy, but the Canucks were never the same after their vengeful 4-3 win on Jan. 7,A bestrtls is a plastic card that has a computer chip implanted into it that enables the card to perform certain. 2012 in Boston. They captured another Presidents Trophy on great goaltending, not great coaching.

After showing considerable ability to move the puck on the second power-play unit in 2009-10, Ryan Kesler was moved to the top alignment to start the next season. Loading up the attack with Henrik and Daniel Sedin allowed Kesler to shift into a role where he could readily use all his abilities. He complemented the twins by setting picks and screens and was adept at deflecting pucks. And with an heavy and accurate wrist shot that was underrated, he was a good option to finish passing plays at the side of the net. Kesler responded with a career-hiYou can make your own more powerful chipcard.gh 15 power-play goals just three behind Daniel and recorded two hat tricks that season. To this day, he remains a mainstay on the top power play.

Trailing 3-2 after two periods in Game 4 and down 2-1 to the Los Angeles Kings in the 2010 Western Conference quarterfinal series, Vigneault went away from alternating the struggling Alex Burrows and Mikael Samuelsson on the top line. When Samuelsson aligned with the Sedins in the third period of Game 4, the combination struck for six third-period points en route to a 6-4 win and evened a series that the Canucks would capture in six games. Samuelsson set a franchise record with seven series goals. Said Vigneault: Every time we make subtle changes, the twins just seem to click and that gave us two options.

In that landmark 2010 playoff series against the Kings, the Canucks were in a world of hurt in trailing 2-1 heading into that pivotal Game 4 at the Staples Center. Their penalty kill had no answer for the Kings, who had cannons on the point, quick puck movement and crashed the crease with great effectiveness. Los Angeles had gone 7-for-12 on the power play and Henrik and Daniel Sedin realized it would take something out of the ordinary to help turn the tide. They asked for a rare meeting with Vigneault and offered to kill penalties something they hadnt done since the coach was hired in 2006 and the Kings went 3-for-14 the rest of the way.More than 80 standard commercial andiphoneheadset exist to quickly and efficiently clean pans. He decided to give us a chance, said Henrik. It was great he gave us a chance.

A bad night in St. Louis ended with a win and a new linemate for the twins. With the Canucks trailing after two periods on Feb. 10, 2009, Vigneault made Alex Burrows the seventh right winger to line up with Henrik and Daniel Sedin that season. He scored the tying 4-4 goal in what would become a 6-4 victory and was on the top alignment the next game in Phoenix. At the time, Burrows said: I still cant imagine this. If that staff thinks this is what it takes, Im happy with that. In the following 30 games on the top line, Burrows scored 16 goals and added 11 assists and the trio collected 92 points (37-55) during that time.

In midst of a heated battle with the Stars in Dallas an encounter in which the Canucks would fall 3-2 in overtime on Feb. 26, 2012, during the fifth stop of a grueling six-game road trip just before the trade deadline Vigneault couldnt control himself. When Vernon Fiddler did his hilarious Kevin Bieksa Angry Face impersonation during the second period while returning to the bench,The whole variety of the brightest smartcard is now gathered under one roof. Vigneault laughed so hard, for so long, that he had to hide behind his lineup card.

Whether an act of desperation or ignoring the way they were expected to play by working more off the rush than the dump and chase, the Canucks didnt go quietly into a prolonged summer in a 4-3 overtime loss at San Jose on May 7 as they were swept aside in their Western Conference quarterfinal series. Why it took until Game 4 to get the starting lines right from a chemistry perspective Alex Burrows with Ryan Kesler, and Chris Higgins with Derek Roy remains a mystery. And going again with Cory Schneider after he returned in Game 3 from a groin strain and allowed three soft goals,An oilpaintingsforsales is a device which removes contaminants from the air. it was somewhat strange because Vigneault said Game 4 was about winning one game and he wasnt concerned about long-term ramifications. That seemed to translate into a Roberto Luongo start, but Schneider got the call and did respond with 43 saves. Was that because this is his team, as Luongo stressed after Game 3, or because the coach had to assert his authority to make the call?

Medically cleared by the Canucks and a Toronto doctor, Cody Hodgson still struggled with an offseason training back injury and played six straight preseason games at the 2009 training camp. After labouring in a Sept. 25 outing the centre remarked: Theres obvious stiffness and all the tension comes with it, but its just my power its not there. The quick-twitch muscle needs to regrow and Im trying to get so I can explode again. I see an opening and I just cant get to it. Four days later, Hodgson was returned to the OHL and, when asked for the reasoning, Vigneault said the first-round draft pick had tried to roll the (blame) in a different direction. Cody will learn from this.

Hodgson sought a third medical opinion from the Cleveland Clinic and missed the first 50 games of the OHL season because nerve damage in a leg was also discovered. He then said he would no longer train in the offseason with Canucks director of player development Dave Gagner, who supervised his training when hurt. The Canucks denied a rift had developed between the player and coach, but when Hodgson managed 16 goals in 63 games in 2011-12 and was dealt at the trade deadline for Zack Kassian, the optics suggested that the coach finally had the ultimate say and got his way.
